College Women
(Stanford Rugby Release)
With the addition of Lindenwood’s tournament, there are now seven regional qualifiers for the Women’s College 7s National Championship, which will occur May 22-24.
Central Washington was one of the big stories from the latter half of 2014, but the Wildcats’ legacy is only beginning. Leading the Pacific Mountain Conference’s North division with a 4-0 record thus far, CWU has bettered its probability of success by adding five recruits for the spring semester.
The game of the weekend will occur between undefeateds CSU Northridge and UC Riverside. Riverside has already taken down two of Southern California's tougher teams: UC Irvine 26-8 and USC 51-27. Northridge is 2-0 as well, but almost gave up last Saturday’s game to Irvine, holding on for a 25-19 win.
There’s plenty to update as we post our first Women’s DI College Rankings of 2015. The western and southern regions are up and moving, which means we’ll have to gauge those teams’ development against fall-oriented teams that have already peaked.
