College Women
The Women’s DII bracket in the USA Rugby College 7s Championships is the only tournament to start on Saturday, as everyone else starts on Friday. It makes sense, really, as these teams might be challenged in terms of depth and recovery, and as a result, one less day might help.
This is perhaps the most exciting women's DI college 7s field ever, with 11 teams, all of which - yes, every single one - have the ability to win it all.
There is not a single easy game in the tournament, and as such every game will need to be played to the utmost.
May 7 brought us five college championships games in Moraga, Calif, and the final one - one that might have been missed by the elated, the dejected, and the exhausted - turned out to be the most dramatic.
There's more to this story than just who won. The women's DII championship matchup turned out the way it did because Tulane, who won the Spring Final, couldn't make it - so we're going to talk about that for a second.
Penn State is not any stranger to the women’s national final The Nittany Lions, in fact, have been in the Big Game 20 times in the last 22 years. That’s right, 20 out of 22. So it’s not really a surprise that Penn State made the final.
And going into the final, they were 10-9 in the final, so you could be forgiven for assuming one outcome or the other.
