College Women
Last year’s women’s DI fall final was a study in frustration.
It wasn’t that observers like this writer wanted any one specific team to win or lose; we just wanted to see a good game. We didn’t. Errors and fumbles were the feature of a game where UConn, making the fewer of the errors, prevailed.
The feeling that this might be Winona State’s year seemed justified on Saturday evening.
WSU had, after all, powered past Coast Guard using their powerful backline, while Davenport had all they could handle against Vassar.
It’s a repeat of the 2015 fall final, as Davenport and Winona State will meet up for the women’s DII college fall championship.
The kickoff times for the College Fall Championships at Furman University have been set.
The games will be webcast on The Rugby Channel (free to access).

The Coast Guard Academy’s run to the USA Rugby Women’s DII fall semis has been a difficult one.
Unlike some of the others in the final four, the Bears have had one or two very tight games to work through.
