GRR: SLU High School
Germantown made a bit of a statement this week with a convincing 32-6 win over St. Louis University High.
Having graduated several senior starters, Germantown (ranked #50 among HS Clubs by GRR) was facing a key test for young players including sophomore flyhalf George Vezina and three freshman starters in flankers Owen Wright and Garret Hagan, and fullback Ryan Winfrey.
In one of the five games GRR tagged as crucial to Boys HS National seedings, the Kansas City Jr. Blues defeated St. Louis University High 21-17.
The KC Jr. Blues defeated a very tough in-state opponent, holding off a comeback by= St. Louis University High to win 33-26.
This has become a huge rivalry in recent years as the two teams have played in the state final in four of the last five seasons. Without starting No. 8 Ayden Augspurg, the Blues still started well, scoring the opening two tries to lead 12-0.
