GRR: College Men
There are few DII college rivalries as intense as Towson v Salisbury.
Both programs have challenged for a national title, although only Salisbury has won any, and the two teams seem to take great relish in bringing everything they can when they face off.
So the WIIL South comes down to Friday night. The Lindenwood-Belleville Lynx, a team with no history until this year, play host to University of Northern Iowa, a team that has been around the DII landscape for a while and boasts among their alumni one of the USA’s greatest players, Paul Emerick.
Having defeated Winona State, the top-ranked and defining national DII college champions Minnesota Duluth Fighting Penguins look to stay undefeated against North Dakota. Having already defeated their top two rivals for the Northern Lights Conference title, UMD are heavily favored to go unbeaten.
Weather undercut the last big game for VMI, when Hurricane Joaquin flooded out VMI’s clash with Old Dominion; this time, it looks like the Cardinals Conference game of the week will happen.
