One thing you have to give Davenport University - they don’t back down from a challenge.

The Panthers have embraced tough competition since they began playing as a quasi-varsity program.

After two DIAA championships, they moved up to DIA, playing in the toughest conference in the nation in the Mid-South. How tough? They didn’t win a conference game until this April.

The US Military Academy’s men’s rugby program’s season is done and it has been a successful one, overall.

Army won the Rugby East, earning a bye to the DIA quarterfinals, and completed the program’s resurgence from suspended club to varsity program.

Not much change in the DI rankings as most playoff results went according to the form sheet. Even Davenport, pulling off what some would call an upset, actually were ranked higher than Army.

The big movement is a little further down, where the Arkansas result over Long Beach State moved the Razorbacks up, the 49ers down, and UC-Davis up, also, after they beat Arkansas.

Lindenwood University seems to be playing as if the players have chips on their shoulders.

After playing in a tough league that saw them score 63 points in four games, the Lions have unleashed their offensive capability in impressive fashion, scoring 69 on Colorado State and 59 on Air Force.

With Texas A&M winning the Red River 7s this past weekend, we are a little closer to figuring out who is in the 24-team Men’s DI College 7s Championships in Denver.

Of the 21 qualifier tournaments, one, the Southwest Conference 7s, remains. However, of the 20 qualifier winners so far, nine will instead attend the CRC invitational in Chester, Pa.
