GRR: College Men
The Red River Conference might well come down to this opening game of 2016 with Oklahoma facing Texas A&M.
There's not a lot of change at the top of the newest Goff Rugby Report Men's DI college rankings, and that's to be expected as these teams haven't played a whole lot.
(We didn't list BYU's big score over Utah because it was billed as a scrimmage.)
St. Mary's retains the #1 ranking in USA Rugby's D1A Rugby rankings as voted on by a panel of coaches and journalists.
The Gaels kept their ranking thanks in part to a defeat of Lindenwood, which stays at #3.
Here's the top 5 (previous week's ranking in parentheses):
1) Saint Mary’s (1)
2) Life (2)
3) Lindenwood (3)
4) Indiana (4)
5) Utah (5)
UC Davis made something of a statement this past weekend with a 53-7 win over Sacramento State.
And while Sac State is going through some rebuilding, the Hornets are no pushovers. The Aggies were just good out of the blocks.
Central Washington University’s men’s team took a trip south to the San Francisco Bay Area to play Olympic Club in a warmup game for both teams.
It was a useful test for the Wildcats are they needed to get outside and play some tough, experienced competition. Olympic Club came away 19-15 winners at the Cal Maritime Academy campus.
