GRR: College Men
The Great Lakes Rugby Conference has announced that its men's conference will be joining NSCRO in the organization's new Open Division D2, beginning in the fall of 2020.
Created in 2010, the GLC used to be a combined D2 and D3 conference. The small college teams eventually moved on to be part of NSCRO, while the larger schools remained as part of the Great Lakes D2 conference.
Now coaching in Japan, New Zealand-born coach Milton Haig is best known for his work with the Georgia National Team and their strong performances in the Rugby World Cup.
Haig speaks with Bruce McLane about the universal language of rugby, coaching without preconceived notions, and also how to build a game plan from a simple framework.
The Chesapeake Conference has made a few changes for the 2020-2021.
The conference has expanded to nine teams, which is the number the conference had when it started in 2016. The Chesapeake dropped down to seven teams in the fall of 2019 after Mary Washington moved up to D1A and Virginia moved to the Cardinals Conference in D2.
The Southeast Collegiate Rugby Conference has added two teams to its DIAA league.
College rugby right now seems to be a little like a group of lifeboats circling a foundering ship—you wonder who's going to pick up whom, who will strike on for shore on their own, and will that foundering ship actually get back afloat?
