GRR: College Men
Well, the University of Cincinnati finally won one, and they won big.
After losing two games by razor-thin margins and another slightly less close one to Dayton, the Bearcats exploded to beat #35 Miami of Ohio.
It’s been a year of college teams moving up a division and testing their mettle - some have done well, while others have struggled, and certainly in the former category would be New England College, as the defending National Small College Rugby Organization (NSCRO) champions defeated #28 UMass 18-8 Saturday in ECRC conerence action.
Gamebreakers this weekend. Here’s a list of players who made an impact for their teams in Men’s DI rugby:
Whenever Stony Brook wins a game - which happens a lot - you’re likely to hear one name mentioned every time.
James Sheridan, Jimmy Sheridan. However you say it, the Seawolves prop who sometimes fills in at lock is the rock up which Stony Brook rugby is built.
If all eyes aren’t on Alabama in the SCRC, maybe they should be, as the Tide moved to 3-0 in the West division with a convincing 53-19 victory over Florida this past weekend.
The victory, and the 3-0 start, are both a manifestation of increased confidence for the Alabama program after a somewhat surprising playoff run last season.
