GRR: College Men
Bowling Green drew first blood in the initial offering of a series of sevens tournaments that will fill the Midwest playing schedule over the next two plus months. The Falcons defeated 13th ranked University of Michigan in a see-saw battle by a score of 27-22 to win the College Clash Invitational.
The Cal Bears came away from UCLA with what they needed Saturday, and that would be a PAC Conference victory, but with the final score being 18-12, it wasn’t perhaps what they’re used to - a slightly more comfortable cushion.
The Men’s DIAA playoff picture is actually becoming clear even though some conferences and leagues aren’t quite sure what’s going on, or where they’re playing.

The Pacific West Rugby Conference may well be coming down to a three-horse race after this weekend’s results.
Chico State remains atop the standings after soundly beating San Francisco State in a result that wasn’t completely unexpected. Chico is very strong this year, but will be looking back at their opening-week loss to UC Davis, a close one at 18-15, with some regret.
Arizona State scored four second-half tries, two by Alex Sandstrom, to defeated Arizona 34-15 Sunday in PAC Rugby Conference action.
The Sun Devils moved to 1-1 in conference play with the victory, a much-improved performance if giving up 100 against Cal last week, when Head Coach Gary Lane ran in the subs early.
