With Texas A&M winning the Red River 7s this past weekend, we are a little closer to figuring out who is in the 24-team Men’s DI College 7s Championships in Denver.

Of the 21 qualifier tournaments, one, the Southwest Conference 7s, remains. However, of the 20 qualifier winners so far, nine will instead attend the CRC invitational in Chester, Pa.

While Central Florida did basically what was expected and mad their way through Kings Point and West Virginia to make the national DIAA  final, it was anything but easy to predict the west coast bracket.

It’s not like things had been going badly.

St. Mary’s had been playing quite well - yes they’d lost to BYU twice and Cal, but those games had all been close, and the Gaels seemed to be set for another run at the DIA final.

Kutztown won yet another 7s tournament Sunday, running through the field at the ACRC 7s in Virginia Beach, and defeating AIC 36-27 in an exciting final.

The Men’s DIAA college playoffs are down to four teams as the quarterfinals produced some intriguing results.

 

The biggest result was Arkansas beating Cal State Long Beach 24-14. 

Razorbacks Head Coach Warren Fyfe said he was almost as surprised as everyone else in the result.
