GRR: College Men
We’ve got a rundown of the results from Week 1 in the Rugby East.
Here are the results (home team listed second, GRR rankings included):
Mary Washington (D1A #14) 17 Army (D1A #7) 27
Navy (D1A #2) 41 St. Bonaventure (NCR #3) 23
Penn State (D1A #18) 22 Mount St. Mary’s (D1A #15) 26
Southern Virginia 14 Belmont Abbey (NCR #9) 31
A late penalty goal and a follow-up try secured a 27-18 victory for Kentucky over Marian Friday night.
The Men’s D2 college rugby season is well and truly starting this weekend and as usual you really don’t know until the cleats hit the grass.
Allegheny, Cardinals, High Peaks, Liberty, MARC, Northern Lights, NACR, SCRC all get going.
Penn State Men’s Rugby opens up their new era with a game at Mount St. Mary’s and this is with new Head Coach Zac Mizell.
A star at Arkansas State, helping them to a D1A final in 2012, and later capped by the USA 7s team, Mizell has coached at Life, University of Texas, and, most recently, Adrian.
We are cooking now.
This weekend we have close to 40 D1-level men's college rugby games. Of those, about 16 are ranked teams against ranked teams. Not that that means an awful lot as we're talking about four different rankings, but still. Here's how that shakes out:
