GRR: HS Girls
The Tropical 7s is set for this coming weekend and the response among touring and select teams has been impressive.
This year it seems unlikely that there will be the sort of high school all-star tournament we've been used to seeing every summer, but there will be one event.
The Colorado Interscholastic Rugby Association will kick off its inaugural season with a Girls 7s league beginning on April 1.
The league will consist of six teams: Regis, Monarch, East HS, Palmer, and two teams from Summit. Teams will meet for individual games rather than a tournament, but some of the fixtures will also have JV games.
Rugby Idaho has a full schedule of games kicking off this weekend, with games as early as Thursday.
After a long wait, and basically a year from the last games to now, Rugby Idaho's high school seasons (boys and girls) are back.
Rocky Mountain goes in as one of the favorites in both Boys and Girls D1, but not prohibitively so. The upsets in the playoffs of the girls fall 7s
Advocating and working with other sports can help rugby get back on the field, especially for high school teams and leagues.
