GRR: Americas Pacific Challenge
The 2021 World Rugby Americas Pacific Challenge is reportedly set for October 22-30 in Montevideo, Uruguay.
After a forced break due to the COVID pandemic, the Americas Pacific Challenge returns with teams from both North and South America. Argentina XV, Brazil A, Chile A, Paraguay A, Uruguay A, and USA Selects will compete in three rounds at the Estadio Charrúa.
USA Rugby has named its squad to play for the USA Selects at the Americas Pacific Challenge.
The games will be played in Montevideo, Uruguay, the same venue for last year. The USA will play Samoa A, Uruguay A, and Canada A. Also in the competition are Argentina XV and Tonga A
Uruguay A defeated the USA Selects 47-15 Sunday to cap off the Americas Pacific Rugby Challenge for both outfits.
The USA Selects finish the tournament in 5th place with five standings points, just ahead of Canada, the only team the Americans beat.
The USA Selects endured about 55 minutes of being the second-best team Wednesday, only to finish off much the stronger and pull out a 47-37 comeback win over Canada A in the Americas Pacific Rugby Challenge in Uruguay.
The USA Selects were thumped 62-12 by the Fiji Warriors in the opening round of the Americas Pacific Challenge at Estadio Charrua in Montevideo, Uruguay Saturday.
The Americans were more competitive than the score suggests, but struggled to contain a fast, elusive, and physical Warriors team - especially No. 8 Eremasi Radrodro.
