GRR: Women
The performance of the USA Women’s National Team this past weekend, during which they pushed England 17-13, might be an indication that the Eagles should have high hopes for the Women’s Rugby World Cup in France this August, or it could be just one result among many.
The Women’s All American team is full of a diverse group of players.
Two (Anne Peterson and Erin Overcash) boasting USA caps in 15s, and two more (Natalie Kosko and Amy Naber) who have received high-level 7s notice, while on the other and of the spectrum, several players from lower-profile programs such as Bailey Johnson (St. Cloud) and Melissa Olman (Molloy).
SURREY, England – England scored three tries in the first 50 minutes and held on the beat the USA women's national team 17-13 Sunday at Surrey Sports Park.
The Atlanta Harlequins ended Day One at the Cape Fear 7s Women's bracket 4-0 Saturday.
Atlanta won all four gems but none was a blowout, as they defeated the DC furies 19-12, NOVA 20-10 Southern Exposure 29-10, and Berkeley 14-10.
DC are second at 3-1, beating Berkeley somewhat soundly 26-12 and edging Southern Exposure and NOVA.
The USA Women's National Team played what was essentially a training scrimmage against England Wednesday, using all of their subs and using the game as a learning experience before Saturday's full test match between the two countries.
