GRR: West Point
Easter weekend doesn’t see a break in college rugby, as not only does the Mid-South stay active, but a few programs long quiet are back on the field.
Tony Ridnell was the pride of Old Puget Sound Beach and was the towering force on their back row and 7s forward pack as Beach began a run of four national 7s club championships in five years.
The Army-Navy rematch this weekend has been canceled.
With COVID-19 cases on the apparent increase around the nation, the West Point and US Naval Academy administrations decided to cancel the games for both men and women.
As you may have seen in GRR’s preview of this past Saturday’s Army-Navy men’s rugby game, the matchup has a history of being close—just not this time.
West Point swept today's action with rivals the US Naval Academy, with the men and women's teams both winning.
In what is usually a relatively close contest, the men's game ended up being more lopsided than usual. In a hotly-contested clash, Army put Navy under pressure early, and from a scrum hammered it up once and then a flat pass to newcomer Dominic Tianga put the flanker over.
