(Mount Saint Mary's Release) - Mount St. Mary's University Director of Athletics Lynne Robinson announced the Mount will elevate the women's rugby program to full varsity status beginning with competition this coming fall.
Harvard hosts the Crimson 7s this weekend in a warmup to the Varsity Rugby Conference 7s series which starts in a little ore than a week.
Harvard ran out two sides at the Frostbite 7s March 5, and won with their A side.
The top-two-ranked varsity teams, Quinnipiac and Army, won their NCVWRA semifinals against Norwich and American International College, respectively, and head to the first-ever varsity championship. The finalists split their regular-season matches by a total of five points, so a good game should evolve.
The National Collegiate Women’s Varsity Rugby Association (NCWVRA) inaugurated its first-ever playoffs last weekend, and the quarterfinal victors will now convene at Brown University for the final four on Friday, Nov. 20 and Sunday, Nov. 22.
