GRR: Utah Youth Rugby
Utah's Herriman defeated West Jordan 48-3 on Wednesday night under the lights at the Herriman High Football Stadium, and then followed that up with a 48-21 defeat of Wasatch this weekend.
Defending Utah state champs Kau Toa bested Skyline Rugby Club Saturday, showcasing a nice combinations of speed and power.
This was a big win for Kau Toa due to the history between the two teams. Last year Kau Toa's only regular season loss came at the hands of Skyline during the Utah Open Tournament, a week before the playoffs.
It was an open subs pre-season game, but still one worth noting, as Olympus HS defeated TC Fusion 66-33 in Utah.
For many, Olympus, just in their second year of rugby, is at the very least a dark horse in the Beehive State, and could well be one of the main contenders.
Herriman HS opened their Utah HS league season with an emphatic 51-10 defeat of Highland Saturday, putting the rest of the state on notice.
The Lady Stallions got their first taste of 7s last fall, as Utah Youth Rugby hosted its inaugural girls club 7s season. Orem ended up winning the state title and were curious how they’d match up against tougher competition. So they traveled to the Las Vegas Invitational and entered the Girls High School Elite 7s division.
