GRR: Utah Youth Rugby
The Puriri Memorial Invitational is set for this coming weekend in St. George, Utah.
This tournament is a traditional kickoff tournament for teams in Utah and in neighboring states. For the past few years this tournament has been named in honor of Ra Puriri, the father of longtime Utah HS coaches Colin and Michael Puriri.
As always the Storer Classic provides some important preseason rugby for teams in the West, and this year did not disappoint.
There were several solid showings with SOC Raptors, Marin, Carlsbad, and Layton Christian all producing some good results. Atop all of those was Belmont Shore, which ended the weekend 3-0.
Boys HS 7s is in action around the USA; here's a look.
New YorkRugby NY opened their fall HS 7s season with Pelham going 3-0 on the day.
Also in action, PlayRugby fielded two teams, going 2-1 and 1-2 with their two teams.
New Rochelle/Albany combined with NYRC for the first day of competition, and went 0-3.

Herriman and East HS will meet in the Utah Youth Rugby school final next week after both won semifinals over the weekend.
These two teams met in the regular season on April 8 with East pulling out a 29-27 victory, so the final promises to be hotly contested.
