GRR: Utah Academy
The Utah Lions Rugby Academy is forging a new partnership with Eagle Impact Rugby Academy that will see EIRA diversify somewhat, and the Lions expand what they are able to offer.
The two organizations will be working together in a way that, say Lions Program Director Mike Cressler and EIRA Program Director Salty Thompson, will make both stronger.
The Utah Rugby Academy has named its Boys team for the HS Elite 7s bracket at the Las Vegas Invitational.
This group includes five returning from last year's team, along with four players who moved up from last year's development team. This is the core of the Academy program that will compete for the NAHS 7s title at the NAI 7s in Salt Lake City in August.
The Victoria International Youth 7s kicks off this weekend with a mostly, but not entirely, Canadian field converging on the capital of the province of British Columbia.
The U16 and U14 brackets are all Canadian, as is the U18 open, but in the U18 elite level Utah will face three British Columbia Elite Youth 7s (BCEY_ teams, along with Alberta and Ontario.
The Utah Lions swept all six games at the High School Rugby Challenge competition held during the Collegiate Rugby Championship 7s in Philadelphia this past weekend, beating Malvern Prep 26-0 in the final to cap off a superb run of 12 wins in 2014.
