GRR: UNC-Charlotte
The Southern Rugby Conference 7s series continues this weekend with UNC-Charlotte in the lead.
After the first tournament, held at The Citadel, UNC-C defeated Furman in the final 36-7. All of the teams involved get points in the series, and 16 college programs are involved.
Here are the standings and results from The Citadel.
Furman University has won the Southern Conference and in doing so the Paladins put themselves in excellent position for a good national playoff run.
With the victory Furman takes the #1 seed out of the Southern, and will play in the bracket at their home fields in Greenville, SC. Should they win and make the final four, the Paladins host that final weekend, also.
The Southern Conference has settled its playoff picture after Tuesday’s oft-postponed matchup between UNC-Wilmington and Coastal Carolina.
Two undefeated teams met up in the Southern Men’s DII college conference, and the result was something of a surprise.
It wasn’t that UNC-Charlotte won that was the surprise, but that they beat Appalachian State - historically a very strong team in the conference - by the score of 48-0.
