Towson University rugby actually welcomes the tough times.

Having to battle Salisbury every year? Great. Losing to Salisbury by two in the conference final? Don’t like it, but OK. Straining every sinew to get past VMI in the play-in? Just what the doctor ordered.

No. 8 Pat McKenna knows.

After a tough two-point loss in the waning minutes of the Potomac Rugby Conference Championship game last weekend, Towson University rebounded to hold off a tough Virginia Military Institute to move on to the National Round of 16.

Towson University upended their longtime rivals Salisbury 32-21 Saturday in a game between the top two teams in the Potomac Men's DII College Conference. In a hugely physical game, Salisbury scored early to lead 7-0 and were still ahead even after Towson flanker Anthony Bria rambled in from 30 meters out - 7-5 Salisbury.

Towson University kept their momentum in the Potomac Men’s DII college conference with a 69-12 defeat of George Washington. Towson controlled the game fairly well, using their forwards a little more than they normally do and punching holes in the GW defense.
