GRR: St. Thomas Aquinas
Teams in the Midwest took advantage of the annual Lindenwood Tournament over the weekend to get a good multi-game kick-start to the season.
"It was a good tournament, and we had the opportunity to get some time for a lot of guys," said St. Thomas Aquinas Head Coach Tim Kluempers.
In a somewhat bizarre final, St. Martin's Kingfishers defeated St. Thomas Aquinas 26-19 to win the Kansas State championships.
This was the third time these two teams had met this season; the first game was a fairly convincing win for Aquinas; the second was a close victory for STA. But this third time the game went to Kingfishers.

Nor'EastersFor us here at GRR World Headquarters we're pleased to see teams play outside their region. We can give you a long list of how teams that start playing outside their region get better and how teams (or even leagues) that only look inward drop in level.
The SLUH All-Catholic Tournament finished up with a strong performance from St. Thomas Aquinas.
Led by their second row pairing of Jake Ernsting and Carson Kraft, the Saints beat a very good SLUH team 14-3.
St. Thomas Aquinas defeated St. Martin's Kingfishers in an almighty all-Kansas midweek clash Wednesday night.
Over and above the game, we now have a bona-fide rivalry. Kingfishers has been building and in fact beat Aquinas for the Kansas state championship last year. Of course, that's just one year, and if you want a rivalry, you need staying power.
