GRR: Sevens World Series
In recent weeks USA 7s team Head Coach Mike Friday said two things that stuck with me.
One was that the USA team had in recent years just been “participating” in the Sevens World Series. The other was in an interview with The Rugby Paper about the Olympics. He wasn’t talking about the USA specifically - he was more talking about the Great Britain team - but the comments are telling:
GOLD COAST, Australia – The USA Men’s 7s team won the Bowl at Cbus Super Stadium Sunday, running the table on the second day with victories over Japan, Portugal, and France.
The USA was led by Zack Test, who scored seven tries on the weekend and made the all-tournament team. Test crossed the 100 career tries threshold on Saturday.
Gold Coast, Queensland –
Mike Friday's team got off to the perfect start as head coach of the Men’s Eagles Sevens after Zack Test’s hat trick gave the Americans a 17-15 victory against Canada Saturday.
