GRR: Rugby Oklahoma
Despite a wet field and a one-hour thunderstorm delay, Bixby managed to defeat F5 to win the Oklahoma state championship over the weekend.
"We knew it was going to be all about field position," said Head Coach Chris Smith.
We crowned a few state champions over the weekend and learned who will be battling for a couple more.
In addition, we had a couple of key games that likely have an effect on HS National Championship seedings. Here's a look.
Two shutouts brought an Oklahoma state championship to Bixby as the highly-ranked single-school team beat Edmond 34-0 in the semifinals last week, and F5 51-0 in the final this past Saturday.
Here's a look at what happened in the Boys High School rugby scene around the country.
We refer to the team's ranking from last week when appropriate. If we say S14, that means a School team ranked 14 among School teams. A ranking of C19 would be the #19 team in the HS Club rankings.
Rugby Oklahoma’s Bixby Rugby produced some notable results in a small tournament in Germantown, Tenn. over the weekend.
Bixby defeated Christian Brothers HS out of the Memphis area 41-19 and Father Ryan out of the Nashville area 21-7.
But perhaps the biggest result was a 15-13 defeat of Germantown, secured on the last play of the game.
