GRR: Rugby New York
Fall 7s in high school has been taking over the country, at least parts of the country, and has become an excellent way of recruiting young people to the game.
Every state does it differently; some have boys and girls and multiple divisions, some have just girls playing, and some make it just a low-intensity fun thing.
Here’s a look.

Play Rugby USA Academy won the Rugby NY Varsity boys 7s this fall, with Pelham taking 2nd.
It was a superb effort from a Play Rugby team that has really started to blossom, not only winning games but starting to put players in contention for national age-grade team honors.
Keio/FASNY took 3rd.
In the JV bracket, Pelham won out over Keio/FASNY.
Rugby New York is kicking off its fall HS 7s with a 12-team competition.
Seven teams will be in the Boys Varsity bracket, and five in the Boys JV bracket.
This is the third year of the Rugby NY 7s. Pelham won the varsity bracket in 2016 and Keio/FASNY won in 2017. Pelham took the inaugural JV competition last year.
