Kutztown University held off a furious late charge from Penn State to win a big Rugby East clash 36-28. Kutztown ran out to a 17-7 first-half lead, using the wind effectively. Meanwhile, Penn State was adjusting to a few personnel changes.

Paced by three tries from Chris Burian Penn State defeated the University at Buffalo 57-17 in Rugby East play. Penn State improved to 2-1 and gained a little on first-place Kutztown, which had no league game this weekend. For Buffalo, it’s now an 0-3 record but Coach Mike Hodgins said he was looking for his team to fix mistakes as they went through the season.

The top dogs howled a little louder Saturday in the Rugby East as Kutztown and Penn State won big. Kutztown defeated Iona 72-0. “There’s nothing to say except two completely different calibers of team,” said Iona Head Coach Bruce McLane.
