Here is our first week of Boys HS School-Team rankings for 2023.
We wrap up our All-D1 Fall ranking and it's been a bit of an experiment.
The longtime conventional wisdom has been that there's some crossover between D1A and D1AA teams (meaning some D1AA teams are stronger than some D1A teams). And with the development of NCR's D1, which includes teams that play in D1A conferences, that's also thought to be true.
This ranking was very, very tough to do.
OK, not the whole thing. Most of it was pretty straightforward. Sam Houston State gets a bump after a really impressive showing against Southern Nazarene. St. Joe's and Binghamton also move up after close losses in the NCR playoffs.
After the national semifinals and final we spent some time looking at past results and crossover results and tried to go at our rankings with an eye to taking them apart.
Because we have the NCR playoffs coming up and a couple of bowl games, our December DIAA-only rankings for the fall will happen twice.
We have the rankings on this, the first day of December, and we'll hit it all again after NCR's Weekend O' Champions in Houston. Also factored in would be Kentucky's bowl game vs Colorado State this coming weekend.
