GRR: PMC South
The Pacific Mountain Rugby Conference (PMRC) has named its playoff competitors, and eight teams spanning from San Diego to Pullman, Wash., will converge on Stanford March 28-29.
Two weekends ago, it looked like Arizona was going to upset the Pacific Mountain Conference (PMC) South leader, UC San Diego, as it entered the half up 21-0. But then the scales of experience shifted the match into the Tritons’ favor and the win slipped away.
Two of three women's DI college games scheduled for the Pacific Mountain Conference South came off last weekend, and both were good battles. The Arizona State vs. UCLA game did not occur due to a referee mix-up, but the Bruins made good on a 26-16 victory over UC Santa Barbara and leap-frogged its opponent in the standings.
Arizona State (2-0) now leads the Pacific Mountain South after its 40-5 win over in-state rival Arizona (0-2). It was the only game to occur in the DI women’s college conference last weekend, as UC San Diego (1-0) and UC Santa Barbara (0-1) postponed their match.
The season is still young for those spring-oriented conferences, but a few DI colleges showed their hand in last weekend's games. The entire Pacific Mountain Conference is contesting league games on Saturday, and the South is joining the fray as well.
