This weekend it’s the Big Game in the New England NSCRO as South division leaders Eastern Connecticut State face off with undefeated Babson.
The National Small College Rugby Orgnaization has announced that New England College’s Director of Rugby Jeremy Treece plans to take his team to DI next fall.
Since it began competing in the NSCRO playoff system in the fall of 2012, NEC has found great success, winning the 2014 7s national championship and finishing 2nd in 15s last spring.
New England College dominated their regional playoffs in the National Small College Rugby Organization (NSCRO) with a 72-5 defeat of the University of Rochester, and a 38-12 defeat of Eastern Connecticut State.
That put NEC in the national semifinals, joining Central region winners St. John’s. Two more spots remain to be claimed for the April 25-26 finals.
The Greenwich/Fairfield County Boys select side defeated Northern New England 50-0 to gain the final of the Northeast Regional All-Star Tournament in Massachusetts, Saturday.
