GRR: Mid-Atlantic Premier League
The first weekend of the Mid-Atlantic Premier League is in the books and already the competition for top high schools out of Virginia, DC, and Pennsylvania is bearing fruit.
In a major upset in the high school rugby scene, Doylestown defeated Gonzaga 43-31 Sunday in the opening weekend of the new Mid-Atlantic Premier League.
The Fort Hunt defeated Georgetown Prep to complete a three-game series of preseason games for the Virginia team.
The Warriors beat the Maryland Exiles 59-0 two weeks ago, and then the Bethesda Roosters 45-0. This past weekend, it was Georgetown Prep going down. Fort Hunt did give up their first points of th season, but still no tries as the Warriors won 36-6.
Some top Boys HS teams from the Mid-Atlantic area will be coming together to form an independent league, much in the same model as the Mid-South Invitational Rugby League.
