GRR: Major League Rugby
Despite the COVID-19 problems and the very real concern that things won't be cleared up anytime soon, Major League Rugby teams are still making deals.
In an anonymous survey, Goff Rugby Report asked D1A Head Coaches what they thought of the inaugural Major League Rugby Draft, and it's safe to say that, according to the coaches, it needs some work.
Coaches generally liked the concept of the MLR Draft, with 58% saying they thought it was a good idea (see chart top left).
But those who didn't care for it had some thoughts:
Rugby ATL in Major League Rugby is pushing ahead with an academy and development program they have dubbed Pathway 404.
Named after Atlanta’s area code, the program is headed up by Santi Sodini, Rugby ATL”s High Performance Manager, and will broaden the club’s reach to four states.
The COVID-19 shutdown and subsequent ripple effects on professional sports might expose some issues within the rugby community especially.
The period right after the Major League Rugby draft has not been a mad dash to sign undrafted players, but there have been a few key moves.
