GRR: LA Invitational
Carson, Calif.– World Rugby and USA Rugby announced today that the upcoming US leg of the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series, the LA Sevens, set to take place March 5- 6, 2022 at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, Calif., will be rescheduled to August 27-28, 2022 due to the logistical challenges associated with the COVID-19 pandemic and the global nature of the World Series event.
The LA Invitational is shaping up quickly as the festival tournament held in conjunction with the LA 7s returns for a second year after a one-year hiatus due to COVID.
The LAI will be held March 4-5, with March 4 at the Great Orange Park in Irvine, Calif., and March 5 at the Dignity Health Sports Park fields.
The LA Sevens Tournament is making on adjustments to how fans can enjoy the event.
One of the requests from fans at the 2020 LA 7s was for in-out privileges and the tournament is going to be able to accommodate that with some limitations.
With news that tickets are now on sale for the LA 7s, we now can give you details on the LA Invitational, which is back for 2022 as well.
The LA 7s will be held Mach 5 and 6, with the LAI held March 4 and 5.
The University of Alabama surprised many, perhaps even themselves, in winning the LA Invitational men's college bracket Saturday.
The final, played in Dignity Health Sports Park in front of the day's LA Sevens crowd, was an exciting affair, with Alabama coming back from a 12-0 deficit to win 19-12 over New Mexico Highlands University.
