Regis Jesuit defeated Palmer HS in convincing fashion on Wednesday evening 51-19 to improve to 4-0 in the Colorado Interscholastic Rugby Association.
It was a impressive showing by Regis, but Head Coach Anthony Mattacchione said the score somewhat flattered his team. Palmer, he said. ""are a physical team and the wear and tear of 70 minutes showed on both sides."
In one of the five games GRR tagged as crucial to Boys HS National seedings, the Kansas City Jr. Blues defeated St. Louis University High 21-17.
St. Thomas Aquinas continued where they left off with a very impressive 43-5 defeat of their longtime rivals the Kansas City Junior Blues.
It was a successful weekend for Germantown as the Tennessee HS team traveled to Little Rock, Ark. to play the Junior Stormers and also the Kansas City Jr Blues.
In what was the first game of the season for both Germantown and KC, while the Stormers had already pitched up in a loss to Bixby.
The KC Jr. Blues defeated a very tough in-state opponent, holding off a comeback by= St. Louis University High to win 33-26.
This has become a huge rivalry in recent years as the two teams have played in the state final in four of the last five seasons. Without starting No. 8 Ayden Augspurg, the Blues still started well, scoring the opening two tries to lead 12-0.
