Before he became a hall-of-fame coach, Jack Clark was an outstanding player.
Clark played football and rugby at Cal in the 1970s and parlayed a great size and athleticism, along with an analytical mind and desire to understand all aspects of the game, into his becoming a top-notch international player.
Cal Head Coach Jack Clark had a pretty good team this year and might have ended the year national champion, but all of that is moot as the COVID-19 shutdown has put more important things on the front-burner.

BERKELEY(Cal Athletics Release) – Jack Clark, Cal's iconic rugby coach who has guided the Golden Bears to 27 national collegiate championships, has been selected as the 22nd recipient of the Glenn T. Seaborg Award. The official presentation will take place during a ceremony when Cal hosts Utah on Saturday, Oct. 1 at Kabam Field at California Memorial Stadium.
BERKELEY (Cal Rugby Release) – Jack Clark, a football and rugby player for the Golden Bears from 1976-78 who has won 26 combined national collegiate championships since becoming head rugby coach for the Golden Bears in 1984, will be inducted into the University of California Athletic Hall of Fame this autumn.
