Grand Valley State pulled off something of an upset, running out to a 17-0 lead and holding off Bethel 17-12 in a key Great Lakes Conference game.
In a meeting of two undefeated teams in the Great Lakes Men's DII Conference, Grand Valley State held off upstarts Bethel College 16-8.
GVSU is the perennial Great Lakes top dog, but Bethel, newly up from the small college ranks, has been winning at a very noticeable pace. This game promised to be hotly contested, and so it was.
The Men's DII college leagues begin the march to a national championship in December with this weekend, and everyone will have a tough time catching up with the defending champion Wisconsin-Whitewater Warhawks.
