Rugby East teams had a solid weekend playing against teams outside their conference.
Yes Navy and Army both lost to Trinity, the rugby team for Dublin University, but the scorelines, competitive at 36-14 and 38-7.
OK we're ramping up now.
GRR will be on the road this weekend and we will be at Dartmouth at Harvard to see the new Harvard regime kick off. Dartmouth is probably favored here but, yes, we'll be there.
We didn't update the D1A rankings this week because there were so few games.
But we will update weekly starting next week and don't worry, this past weekend's results will be factored in.
Regardless, here's GRR's commentary on the competitive balance in D1A.
While we know that 7s and 15s are not the same and success in 7s does not necessarily translate to similar success in 15s ... but rugby is rugby and, as Mount St. Mary's is showing, confidence is confidence.
It's early days in the college rugby fall but we've got some activity already.
We're listing D1A, NCR D1, and D1AA teams all together because they're playing each other, especially during non-conference time ... which is now. What we will do is label each team as to where they are competing ... as follows:
