There's more to this story than just who won. The women's DII championship matchup turned out the way it did because Tulane, who won the Spring Final, couldn't make it - so we're going to talk about that for a second.
Penn State is not any stranger to the women’s national final The Nittany Lions, in fact, have been in the Big Game 20 times in the last 22 years. That’s right, 20 out of 22. So it’s not really a surprise that Penn State made the final.
And going into the final, they were 10-9 in the final, so you could be forgiven for assuming one outcome or the other.
Saturday's DIAA Final is a clash of teams that are used to being underestimated.
Trivia question: Of the five DIA finals held, how many were decided by more than a try?
