GRR: Charlotte Cardinals
Gonzaga vs Charlotte lived up to the billing to cap off the Gonzaga Classic, a tournament that provided some outstanding competition throughout.
Gonzaga made the final with a difficult 14-0 semifinal win over Shawnigan Lake. The BC side had some good scoring chances but couldn't quite finish and Gonzaga did just enough in their semi.
Here's a quick look at some of the developments in Boys HS rugby around the nation:
Nor'EastersFor us here at GRR World Headquarters we're pleased to see teams play outside their region. We can give you a long list of how teams that start playing outside their region get better and how teams (or even leagues) that only look inward drop in level.
Charlotte Cardinals beat cross-city rivals Charlotte Tigers 43-7 Saturday with a dominant second half display.
It was a well-contested, physical, and high-quality contest with no quarter asked or given as one would expect from a top-tier local rivalry.
In a meeting of the #1 Boys school team and the #4 HS Club, Gonzaga defeated the Charlotte Cardinals 36-27 on the campus of Hampden-Sydney College Saturday.
Charlotte capitalized on some Gonzaga handling errors in the Eagles' 22 and ran out to an early 15-5 lead.
The Carolina Ruggerfest produced some girls performances of note.
And as we look toward a March and April in girls rugby some of the teams involved put their hands up.
