Cal defeated the United States Naval Academy 57-15 Saturday in the Varsity Cup semifinals to book the Bears’ third-straight spot in the Varsity Cup final.
Cal improved to 17-1, with a solid performance in their final home game over a tough Navy side.

The Cal Bears came away from UCLA with what they needed Saturday, and that would be a PAC Conference victory, but with the final score being 18-12, it wasn’t perhaps what they’re used to - a slightly more comfortable cushion.
The Pacific Mountain West is a strong, albeit small, women’s DI college conference, and this season has provided a bevy of thrilling matches. Not even Stanford, the perennial league champion, has been exempt from near-losses and could easily be 2-2 right now instead of 4-0. But when the ball bounces in one team’s direction, it bounces away from another, and that’s where Cal has found itself.
