GRR: BYU
Berkeley, Calif. – In the first meeting of these two highly-regarded collegiate rugby programs since the 2016 Varsity Cup final, Cal defeated BYU 37-28 Saturday at Cal's Witter Rugby Field.
This was the first rugby game for Cal in almost 400 days, while BYU was coming off a tie with Central Washington and a defeat of Utah State.
Don't look now, but there's a bear coming up behind you.
It's big and golden and it has teeth and claws and it's probably very hungry.
Another couple of teams step into the fray in college rugby as the University of Arizona gets set to play Grand Canyon this weekend.
College rugby games are still few and far between as breaking out of COVID shutdowns and keeping everyone free from positive tests has been very difficult.
The Rocky Mountain men’s D1A conference has officially delayed any rugby until the fall.
The conference, which includes Colorado, Colorado State, Utah Valley, Utah State, New Mexico, and Wyoming will look at what they can do in the spring. However, playing in the early spring is difficult for those schools because it can snow well into March, sometimes later.
One of the most intriguing rankings games this weekend in D1A Rugby will be BYU at Central Washington.
