GRR: BYU
BYU defeated Cal in impressive fashion 59-26 Saturday in Berkeley.
The Cougars played a very accurate and fast game, showcasing some impressive catch-pass skills and minimizing mistakes that can be so damaging to a Cal opponent.
Lindenwood came back to bet BYU 21-14 in what was a battle of a game in St. Charles, Mo. Friday.
Both teams played very solid rugby, executed well, and were up for it. In the end, Lindenwood’s powerful scrum produced two key scoring chances late in the game to win it.
BYU is of course leading the Rocky Mountain Conference, but the question remains whether anyone can push them.
The Cougars beat a very strong Utah State team 54-3 and look to launch from there in the next couple of weeks.
Cal rode a massive scoring burst in the second half to defeat longtime rivals BYU 55-31 Saturday at Witter Rugby Field in Berkeley.
This was the second of two D1A semifinals on Saturday, with Navy having won 12-10 earlier in the day.
“Congratulations to BYU on a really fine season,” said Cal Head Coach Jack Clark. “Proud of our boys for advancing.”
Navy continued its impressive run as the best of D1A made the final four this weekend.
The Midshipmen defeated Army for the third time this season, this time making it relatively emphatic at 30-6.
