San Clemente Clinches SCIRF Final Spot
The regular season in the SCIRF Platinum league is essentially complete, with St. Augustine taking 1st and San Clemente taking 2nd; those two will play February 22 in the championships game.
St. Augustine remained undefeated with a win over Fallbrook, and have another game against Mira Costa next week. But that game is immaterial as the Saints can't be caught.
San Clemente defeated Mira Costa 50-15.
"We didn’t play the prettiest of rugby but we got the job done," said San Clemente Coach Sutart Proctor.
Several younger players stepped up nicely for San Clemente: Blake Allen, Christian Guarascio, Mason Ord, Thomas Hartanov, and Jack Demora all had good games.
The San Clemente center pairing of Ryland Swarthout and Alex Anawalt were just too big and physical for the younger Mira Costa HS midfield.
Mira Costa battled hard and then hosted San Clemente well with a meal after the game.
"[Mira Costa Coach] Duke Dulgarian has a terrific program up in LA," said Proctor. "Hats off to him and his staff for staying true to our sport's unique culture."
IN the JV league, Torrey Pines is undefeated, while Cathedral Catholic can take 2nd with a win over Fallbrook.
