EIRA Hosting HS All-Star Event At Moose Rugby Grounds
A high school select-side 15s tournament independent of the USA Rugby RCT system is going to be held this coming June.
Set up and run by Eagle Impact Rugby Academy, but open to all select-sides (pending acceptance of an application), the EIRA National Invitation All Star Tournament will be held June 20-21 at the Moose Rugby Grounds in Elkhart, Ind.
This will be a privately-run event. Eagle Impact Rugby Academy is a 501c3 non-profit, and will oversee the tournament. The intent is to offer opportunities for challenging competition at a regional or national representative level. The event is not open to individual clubs or schools.
Boys All-Star Teams, whether state based, academies, or invitational, are required to apply for inclusion and meet standards in their organization, personnel, and coaching.
EIRA will also enter teams representing various regions of the country—there won't be a national EIRA team at this tournament, just regional onces. Players are expected to be at a representative competitive level for their age group. The intent is to add girls teams in 2021.
Age Levels
The EIRA National Invitation All Star Tournament will not follow what has been in recent years USA Rugby's all-star age-grade divisions, which require players to plan at specific levels based on their school grade.
This tournament will be based on age, with a U19 bracket (students born in 2001 and 2002 for ths 2019-20 school year), a U17 bracket (born 2003 and 2004), and U15s (born 2005 and 2006).
Team Requirements
Teams are required to have current USAR certified coaches, minimum 200 level and preferably 300 level. Each team will have three coaches and a manager who may also act as a coach. All players and staff will register through Eagle Impact Rugby Academy. Parents will register their children, provide essential data and read and accept waivers.
All personnel who register will be protected by EIRA’s liability and medical insurance. Each team cost is $500.00 to include registration, insurance, facility use, referees, trainers (on duty at each field). Each Team will be required to have a minimum of 25 players
