Maccabi USA Looking For Jewish High School Rugby Players
Maccabi USA is seeking Jewish High School Rugby Players (born 2002-2004) to represent the United States in 7’s at the inaugural Maccabi Youth Games in Israel, July 22-August 1, 2018. To learn more about the sports offered and to access an application, please visit www.maccabiusa.com.
This ten-day event will combine tournament style competition paired with touring and experiential education. Athletes will compete and experience Israel alongside their Jewish teen counterparts from around the world including Australia, Canada, Great Britain, Israel, South Africa and more. The six days of competition will be based in and around the city of Haifa, followed by three days of touring based in Jerusalem. The Games are in cooperation with JCC Association, the JCC Maccabi Games, BBYO, and Maccabi organizations around the world.
“Playing Rugby in the 1989 Maccabiah Games had a significant impact on me; forever merging my identities as a Jew and a rugby player” said Maccabi USA Rugby Chair, Dave Rudzinsky. “We are so excited to share this experience with the next generation of USA rugby players and welcome them into the Maccabi USA Rugby Family.”
Maccabi USA builds Jewish pride through sports, generating the emotional intensity, high ideals, and powerful camaraderie of competition. We connect athletes, volunteers, and supporters with the global Jewish community. Our athletic, educational, and cultural experiences build Jewish identity, perpetuate Jewish continuity worldwide, and strengthen support for the State of Israel.
