More From Boys HSAA Winter Camp
Some notes from the Boys HS All American Winter Camp.
Former HSAA player Nafi Maafu, who is playing with Narbonne in France, was a guest assistant and struck a chord with the players with his words on humility and hard work. See more here. (And see why Maafu made such an impression as a player in this highlight. If you don't see the video, please refresh the page.
The HSAA scrum was fairly dominant against the Canadian U18 teams, thanks in part to some talented second rows, but also some solid performances from players up front, including Jesuit's Joe Marchant, Trent Rogers from Walnut Hills, and Larry Williams from Clayton, NC. Braedon Looper out of Arizona has continued to show well at hooker.
More if coming out about the backs. The halfbacks in Conor McManus, Ethan McVeight (#), and Sean Nolan and Mike Weir (#10) are as poised as any we've seen. Inoke Waqavesi is a smart leader and could play almost anywhere in the backs. Back Bay's Junior Gafa was good enough to run with the older guys. Tyren Al-Jiboori is a leader as well as a talent.
