UNC-Charlotte Downs Furman in Key Southern Clash
In a midweek clash of top teams in the Southern Rugby Conference, UNC-Charlotte defeated Furman 29-16.
Both teams were undefeated going into the match and understood that the game would have playoff implications.
Charlotte took an early lead, scoring twice to go ahead 14-0. Furman managed to calm things down and the game became much more defensive and physical after that. With each team having a solid kicking game, scoring chances were tough to come by as each had to start from within its own 22 most of the time.
Furman started claw back after Charlotte began committing penalties. But three more tries from Charlotte put the game away.
"Our strength is in our balance," said UNC-C Coach Bo Pasko. "All of our players, from the front row to the back three, contribute something special in attack and defense. This balance gives us options for how to play each opponent."
