UC Davis Slams FSU
UC Davis put everyone, especially Notre Dame College, on notice with a dominant performance in the DIAA spring final.
The Aggies took the thresher to the Seminoles of Florida State with prejudice. Scrumhalf Jacob Wright scored in the first three minutes. Josh Farnsworth converted, and then scored a try of his own seven minutes later. Guilherme Maia Silva scored two wrapped around FSU's lone penalty goal, and Davis led 24-3 at halftime.
In the second half, the Aggies controlled the pace, and Ari Wargon, Jared Woosley, Bradley Maples, Woosley again, Tarik Siniora, and Woosley again capped it all off. When the dust had settled, UC Davis had won 60-3.
It was not an easy game for FSU to play, traveling as they did across the country to play at Stanford. But the saying goes that to be called the best you have to beat the best in their back yard, and Palo Alto, while a bit of a drive from the Sacramento area, was still the Aggies' back yard. The 'Noles had a superb run, but Davis was brilliant.
Davis now looks ahead to two weeks from now when they take on Fall DIAA winners Notre Dame College for the DIAA 2016-17 title. This is a rematch of last year's final, which Davis won for the Aggies' second straight championship.
