Eagle, Falcons Women Set for Las Vegas
Eagle, Falcons Women Set for Las Vegas
The USA Women's 7s team and the USA Falcons 7s team have been named for Las Vegas.
The Eagles will play in the Women's World Series event at Sam Boyd Stadium. kicking off on Friday morning. The Falcons will play in the Las Vegas Invitational Women's Elite 7s.
For the full Eagles team, three changes have been made from the team that finished 2nd at the Sydney 7s. In favor of Kayla Canett, Hope Rogers, and Sarah Buonopane Head Coach Richie Walker has named Kelsie Stockert, Bulou Mataitoga, and Nicole Snyder.
Stockert got her start playing high school rugby as a freshman at the Budd Bay Steelheads in Olympia, Wash., and was a standout for four years for the Steelheads. After a break to have a child, she came back to be an all-star for the Seattle Saracens, and was capped at 15s in 2015.
Mataitoga was, like Stockert, named to the Falcons team that won the Okinawa 7s last week (Falcons Women Win in Japan), but because of a paperwork issue she was unable to make the trip. This will be a big run-out for the former AIC All American. Nicole Snyder, an exciting talent from Bloomsburg University, is a hard-runner and athletic.
Alev Kelter, who was a superstar in Sydney, returns as captain.
