Atavus, the country’s leading provider of high performance, community and rugby coach education, is going “All In” to support the ongoing growth of the game during USA 7s week in Las Vegas. The Atavus team will be in Las Vegas all week hosting a variety of events and activities to support youth, high school and high performance rugby.
Atavus’ events for the 2017 Vegas week include:
• Coaching Development Conference (March 2nd, 3-6pm, D Hotel): Atavus will host its 5th Annual Coach Development Conference, designed to provide coaches with practical on and off field tools for coaching the modern game. Headlined by Harlequins Academy Director Tony Diprose, the conference focus will be on coaching process, player-centered delivery and outcome-driven training sessions. • Atavus All-Stars (March 2nd-4th, Heritage Park & Silver Bowl Park): Made up of top athletes from across Atavus programming, three Atavus All-Stars teams will compete in the 2017 Las Vegas Invitational including Women’s Elite, Girls U18 Varsity (High School) and Boys U18 Varsity (High School) divisions. • Las Vegas Invitational Sponsorship (March 2nd-4th, Heritage Park): To promote the growth of the game at the high school level, Atavus is supporting the LVI’s High School Boys and Girls Open and Varsity divisions of North America’s largest rugby tournament. Atavus coaches will be onsite observing game play and will present MVP trophies for the four divisions. • Youth Activation (March 3rd, 5pm, Fremont Street in Old Vegas): Just before the Parade of Nations, members of the Atavus All-Stars, USA Falcons Elite 7s players and Atavus coaches will host a youth rugby demonstration with skills and games for all participants.
• USA 7s Rugby Fan Zone (March 3rd-5th, Sam Boyd Stadium): During the marquee event of the weekend, the international USA 7s Rugby tournament, Atavus will host a booth at the Fan Zone for rugby fans of all ages to stop by for a fun, youth rugby focused experience including a photo booth, photo scavenger hunt contest and swag giveaways.
• Atavus Athletes Chosen for Serevi Selects: Six “Atavus Athletes” have been selected to compete on the international invitational Serevi Selects side in the LVI’s Men’s America’s Cup 7s (formerly Elite 7s) division. Coached by Waisale Serevi, this independent team gives athletes that have excelled in Atavus programming the opportunity to play at an international level alongside some of the best players from around the world. Squad members include Atavus Academy athletes Sequoyah Burke Combs, Kellen Gordon, Shalom Suniula and Peter Tiberio, as well as former University of Washington Rugby player, a “Powered By Atavus” program, Psalm Wooching.
• Support for the USA Women’s Falcons: Playing in the Women's Elite 7's division, Atavus is supporting the participation in the LVI by the USA Women’s Falcons. This support is part of Atavus’ ongoing wider partnership with USA Rugby, aiding development opportunities across all age grades of the men's and women's programs.
